Get ready for an extraordinary experience at a high altitude. You'll be climbing over majestic passes, some of them over 5,000 metres high, including the imposing Saach Pass (4,420 metres), an atypical pass in the Great Himalayas - not the highest, but certainly the most difficult. Daring as we are, we plunge into the unexplored Zanskar valley like intrepid pioneers. It's a real physical challenge for those who dare. Prepare yourself for a unique experience that will take you to great heights, both literally and figuratively.
You will be met at the airport by one of our guides, who will accompany you to the hotel near the airport. Rooms will be reserved from 12 noon. We will spend the night in Delhi.
In the morning, we'll head to the airport for our flight to Dharamsala, a city at the foot of the Dhauladhar mountain range. We'll be staying in the McLeod Ganj district, also known as Little Lhasa.
Since 1959, Dharamsala has been the place of exile of the Dalai Lama and a large community of Tibetan refugees. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to relax, stroll around and enjoy the unique atmosphere.
A modest outing to soak up the Himalayan environment of course, but above all to get to know your Royal Enfield, your companion for the days ahead. We'll be in a very special place, steeped in Tibetan Buddhism, an environment probably unknown to most of the group.
We'll start our ride with this stage, which will allow you to really get to grips with your Motorcycle and familiarise yourself with driving in India. The roads we take are generally in good condition, and soon we're on to a series of twists and turns through valleys lined with glaciers perched on the Dhauladhar range.
Enjoy this incredible region with its ever-changing scenery. We'll make a stop at Chamba, where you can rest and enjoy a good night's sleep. This rest is essential to store up the energy you need for the stages ahead.
So, are you ready for adventure? Today is the start of the serious stuff! We'll start our outing with the imposing Saach Pass (4,420 metres), an atypical pass through the Great Himalayas. It may not be the highest pass, but it's certainly the most difficult. Nothing like the Manali route, which is far too busy, here you will be confronted with a path far removed from the comforts of modernism. You're in for a thrilling experience right from the start! And the descent will be just as spectacular. Expect very basic accommodation this evening, as this part of the Himalayas is only explored by the most courageous.
We are in the Pangi Valley, a beautiful and undeveloped tribal region, one of the most remote areas of the state of Himachal Pradesh. We set off towards Lahaul, a land of snow-capped mountains and high-altitude desert, punctuated by small patches of greenery. The tracks are completely untouched by civilization. The end of the day's journey will be more comfortable and we will spend the night in Jispa, a village situated at an altitude of 3,200 m.
Feeling fit? We'll be climbing above 5,000 m via the Shinku La pass, also known as the Shingo La, an important route to Zanskar. We will then descend to Padum, the "capital" of Zanskar, a region hemmed in by the mountains via the Kurgiak Chu valley, named after the river that flows through it, and its impressive scenery.
We leave Padum and travel up the Zanskar River, a capricious river that is frozen for much of the year, crossing our fingers that it will let us cross some of its gorges without too much difficulty. Then we'll head back to Lamayuru (the name of the region where a Buddhist saint threw seeds that made a swastika design) via high altitude tracks, close to 5,000 m, to reach the heart of Ladakh, undoubtedly one of the most isolated places on the planet.
This new stage of the journey will take you along kilometres of tracks and roads, each as different as the next. Ladakh will let you discover its many monasteries and all its rusticity.
We enjoy a well-deserved rest in Leh, the capital of Ladakh. The old town is full of charm, and its monuments are often located at the top of the town's rocky ridge. Enjoy a stroll through the Tibetan market.
Accompanied by the Indus, the mythical river par excellence, we climb to reach the immense Pangong Lake. Pangong Lake is 134 km long and much more than just a body of water. It is a place that embodies the natural grandeur of the Indian Himalayas. And to spice things up even further, we'll be taking a pass off the traditional route to climb to an altitude of 5,650 m, much higher than the Khardung La. We won't tell you any more about it, just let the place offer you a breathtaking spectacle.
We enter Rupshu, a very remote area of Ladakh, on sandy, sometimes stony tracks, to reach a pass at an altitude of more than 5,400 metres. A region dotted with mountain lakes and magnificent scenery.
It's time to leave the dizzying Himalayan heights and head for the Indus valley. We pass over the Tanglang La pass at over 5,300 m, one of the highest passes in the world that is both passable and suitable for people. The route we follow will plunge you into the fantastic world of the most impressive Motorcycle circuits. Our arrival in Leh, the political, cultural and economic centre of Ladakh, will give you the rest you deserve after these incredible rides.
Goodbye Himalayas! We'll be leaving you with a heavy heart, but a head full of memories... Early in the morning, we'll catch our flight back to the capital.
Transfer to the airport according to your flight schedule.
